Abstract
The Haverah Park 500-m EAS array is described with special reference to the accuracy of the estimation of shower parameters. The shower core location is found to within 10 m for near-vertical showers, but estimates are less accurate for inclined showers. The direction of the shower axis is found by measuring the time of arrival of particles at the different detectors, and the direction can be placed within a cone of semiangle 4° for a wide range of zenith angle. Estimates of the curvature of the shower front have a standard deviation of 0.08 km−1.
