Eutectic Solidification and Marginal Stability

Abstract
A simple model of eutectic solidification is used to illustrate the marginal-stability theory of pattern selection in nonequilibrium processes. The nonlinear equation of motion which describes this model suggests a mechanism for noise amplification at the marginally stable operating point of the system.Keywords
