A Test of the Validity of Offsprings' Report of Parental Handedness

Abstract
The question as to whether offspring accurately report parental hand use was examined by comparing the assessment of parental handedness by 159 offspring with a direct assessment of hand-use patterns by the parents themselves. The results indicated that the offspring tend significantly to overestimate the percentage of parental right-handedness. These data suggest caution in future research and should aid interpretation of existing familial data based on offsprings' report of parental handedness.
