Abstract
A method for implanting radioactive sources into endobronchial tumors using the large-channel, flexible fiberoptic bronchoscope and a specially constructed flexible injector system is described. Three patients with symptoms of bronchial obstruction related to recurrent bronchogenic carcinoma received transbronchial 198Au interstitial implants and limited external beam re-irradiation. Significant palliation was obtained in 2 of these patients. The dosimetry, radiation safety aspects and efficacy of this technique are discussed. This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
