Bismuth (III) Chloride - Catalyzed Chlorination of Alcohols by Chlorosilanes1

Abstract
In the presence of catalytic amounts of BiCl3, chloromethylsilanes could be used as chlorinating agents of alcohols and alkoxysilanes. At rt , t-butanolysis of polychlorosilanes led to polysiloxanes in quantitative yield.
