Abstract
In Exp. I, horizontal rows of 8 letters spanning the right and left visual fields were presented at 100-msec duration. 15 undergraduates reported whether particular probe letters were or were not the ones seen in each of the 8 positions. Ratings were made of the degree of confidence in that judgment. In Exp. II, the same judgments were required about vertical rows of letters exposed at 200 msec. Both experiments found no difference in accuracy in either the right and left or the north and south visual fields. Results corroborate J. J. Ayres' (see 40:7) conclusion that dominance of 1 field over the other is an artifact of the order of reporting. (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2006 APA, all rights reserved)Keywords
