Abstract
Barium fractionation procedures supplemented by chromatographic analysis have shown that alpha-galactose-1-phosphate, alpha (?)-glucose-l-phosphate, glucose-6 (?)-phosphate, a lactose-phosphate and phosphopyruvic acid are present in trace amts. in normal milk. The possible significance of these findings in relation to lactose synthesis is discussed. Keywords
