A new method of determining the vitamin A content of blood

Abstract
The new test of Rosenthal and Erdelyi, which seems to be specific for vit. A in blood, makes it unnecessary to remove carotene (since it does not react in the guaiacol test) and thus permits direct determination of vit. A in blood. A diluted soln. of KMnO4 or the "grey soln." of the Leitz absolute colorimeter may be used as standard for comparison. Until it becomes possible to detn. the absolute amt. of vit. A with the aid of this new color test, its expression in "grey units" seems suitable for research purposes.
