Abstract
Two cases of laterally open knee joints with surrounding skin defects are reported. The joints were closed by muscle flaps fashioned from the lateral belly of the gastrocnemius, which was detached distally and folded upwards and forwards to cover the defect. The transposed muscle and the remainder of the wound were covered by free skin grafts. Results were satisfactory.Keywords
