Abstract
Fecundity, defined as reproductive potential, and its relation to age has become an important issue for many women. As a result of the changing roles of women, many are facing the question of whether to delay childbcaring until their 30s in exchange for career development. National statistics show that in 8 per cent of first live births in 1979,1 the women were 30 years old or older, as compared with 6.8 per cent in 1960.2 Although these figures may not suggest a dramatic shift in childbearing patterns, the increase in first as well as second and third births among women . . .
