Abstract
It has been found that the total scintillation light from alkali halides produced by stopping energetic ions with can be described by a single linear function of , where is the initial energy, and and are the mass number and charge of the incident particle, respectively. Measurements in CsI(Tl) and NaI(Tl) are shown and a brief discussion of the implications of this observation is given.
