Abstract
Neutron diffraction spectra obtained for the monolayer and bilayer films of C2D2 adsorbed upon MgO(100) show that both have a 2 × 2 registered lattice. A novel feature with respect to an earlier similar observation for CD4 on the same substrate is that electrostatic forces are chiefly responsible for the localization of the admolecules upon the surface. Keywords
