Abstract
To provide all states and communities access to useful data for profiling local conditions for the newly required Comprehensive Housing Affordability Strategies (CHAS), the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) plans to make available special tabulations of 1990 and 1980 decennial census data. HUD is soliciting public comment about both the content of the tabulations and the proposed CHAS format. Using data from the 1989 American Housing Survey, this paper introduces the special tabulations being planned and suggests ways in which their data may prove helpful in determining CHAS priorities for housing investment. Keywords
