Abstract
Smoke from . different types of cigarette tobaccos may differ significantly in edema-producing irritants. Constituents from some types of tobacco, notably Burley, produce a degree of irritation disproportionately greater than that which might be expected on the basis of edema producing properties. The mean increase in moisture content of exposed tissue with various tobaccos was as follows; Smyrna (Turkish) 10.82, Bright 21.76, Samsoan (Turkish) 33.79, Maryland 34.76, Burley 37.12, blend of all 31.14%.Keywords
