Tumor Grading by Implantation in Embryos. I. Grading of Minimum-Deviation Hepatomas2

Abstract
A system for grading tumors, based on the cellular responses of 16- to 18-hour chick embryos when tumor tissues were implanted between the germ layers, was used to grade 6 minimum-deviation hepatomas. Grading of the hepatomas in embryos did not correlate with their biochemical abnormalities, karyotype deviation, growth rate, or histologic differentiation, but did correlate with the degree of tumor malignancy as measured by tumor behavior in Buffalo rats.
