Abstract
The letter presents an explanation for the reversal of peak intensities in x-ray diffraction patterns of Y-Ba-Cu-O compounds with the same nominal compositions but distinctive properties of superconductivity due to different cooling conditions. Structural differences between the phases caused by different lattice distortions as well as the effect of these distortions on superconductivity are also discussed. Keywords
