Abstract
Finite-size behavior of the d>4 Ising model with free boundary conditions is studied by a novel techique of expanding the order parameter in standing-wave modes. Results are reported for the behavior of the susceptibilty in various temperature regimes near the bulk critical point. A large ‘‘nonscaling’’ temperature shift is needed to describe the scaling properties. Keywords
