Abstract
Frequencies of inbreeding during the last 43 yr., taken parish by parish in a northwestern region of Spain, are studied. This population presents some atypical triats: a similar proportion of unions between 1st cousins and 2nd cousins, a continuous decrease in endogamy, an irregular distribution of inbreeding frequencies inside the area and an anomalous situation of the population in Streng''s triangle. The meaning of these traits is discussed and the preponderance of unions between 1st cousins in urban areas is verified. Keywords
