Abstract
A permutation‐inversion group theoretical classification scheme for the tunneling–rotational levels of the water dimer molecule is given. Electric dipole selection rules and nuclear spin statistics are discussed. Application of these results to the microwave spectrum of water dimer, observed by molecular beam techniques, is also presented. Keywords
