Behavioral Rigidity in Adult Stutterers

Abstract
Fifteen stutterers were compared to 15 normals on a 2-switch electro-maze and 16 subjects were compared to 16 normals on a 4-switch electromaze to test behavioral stereotypy as measured by this kind of procedure. No significant differences were observed in 3d-order indices of behavioral stereotypy obtained in response to the 2-switch maze or in 2d-order indices of behavioral stereotypy obtained from responses to the 4-switch maze. Stutterers in general do not have a greater general behavioral rigidity than do non-stutterers.
