Abstract
Direct optical records were obtained of the fall of pressure in a leg artery during occlusion of the aorta. Measurement and plotting of the tangents to the pressure-time curves led to the conclusions that the rate of fall of pressure is not linearly proportional to the pressure; and that pressure ceases to fall at about 20 mm. Hg. The sag of the pressure-time curves varied with the level of the aortic occlusion. The significance of the findings in connection with the elasticity of the arterial reservoir is discussed. This publication has 4 references indexed in Scilit:
