Polymerization with redox initiators. III. Complex formation between benzoyl peroxide and dimethylaniline

Abstract
When a dilute solution of benzoyl peroxide is mixed with one of dimethylaniline, the resultant solution has an absorbance in the ultraviolet which is different from that which can be calculated assuming no interaction. The difference is temperature dependent and reversible. It is believed that the absorbance difference may be attributed to the rapid equilibrium formation of a complex between the amine and peroxide.
