Persistent IgE-Secreting Cells which Are Refractory to T-Cell Control

Abstract
High IgE-responder rats and mice manifesting ‘persistent’ IgE responses following parenteral immunization, were shown to contain x-irradiation resistant and T suppressor cell resistant IgE-secreting cells. Employing the ELISA-plaque technique, these cells were shown to be localized in the bone marrow and the lymph nodes draining the original site of antigenic challenge. The implications of these findings are discussed in relation to the results of recent studies on in vitro regulation of IgE synthesis by human cells.
