Abstract
The bandwidth, burstiness, and calling-rate characteristics of a wide range of communication services are discussed. Customer needs for multimedia interactive services are identified, and broadband packed-switch (BPS) technology is analyzed. Physical network topology and logical network architecture are discussed as they pertain to network design. Keywords
