Abstract
The influences of polytef (Teflon)-glycerine mixture as a permanent implant in the lateral-lying paralyzed vocal cord has been established for six years. This is indicated if there is no relief after six month's time. Now, for temporary and short-term purposes glycerine injection may be used following pneumonectomy and aortectomy. This returns the essential life-saving function of cough-making it effective. In so doing it has obviated the need of certain temporary tracheotomies. The procedure can be bedside or via direct laryngoscopy. It may well be repeated.Keywords
