Thermal Expansion of Iridium at High Temperatures

Abstract
The linear thermal expansion of iridium was measured in the range 891–2221 °C. The following equation was found to fit selected earlier results and the present results over the temperature range 30–2221 °C: 100(Lt−L0)/L0=616.7×10−6t+151.9×10−9t2−28.16×10−12t3+14.63×10−15t4 for t expressed in °C. Thermal expansion coefficients and average coefficients of expansion were calculated.
