Abstract
At present the widest diversity of opinion exists in relation to the classification and differential diagnosis of parapsoriasis in patches. In 1910 Arndt,1after an exhaustive study of the subject, suggested the title Brocq's disease to indicate that the condition was an independent entity. It is now customary to subdivide parapsoriasis into three or four types, but in late years the relation of the several varieties has been more or less questioned by a number of authorities. For example, Civatte2has only recently (1936) stated, "The clinical unity of parapsoriasis appears, therefore, after a lapse of thirty years, to be more disputable than at the time when the group was first created." This statement seems the more significant because this observer wrote his celebrated thesis3(1906) under the tutelage of Brocq.
