Abstract
It seemed of particular interest to study how the blood ketone bodies level could be influenced by the particular endocrine and metabolic situation which occurs during muscular exercise. FFA increase during either the muscular work (60 min) or the following resting period (30 min). In the same experimental conditions, the blood ketone bodies (acetoacetate and 3-hydroxybutyrate) significantly decrease during muscular work, and increase again during the resting period. In streptozotocin-treated rats muscular exercise decreases ketone bodies leveL It is suggested that the decrease of acetoacetate and 3- hydroxybutyrate levels during the muscular work is due to an increased peripheral utilisation rather than to a decreased formation in the liver. Keywords
