Abstract
We have discovered that haloalkylisothiocyanates are very general reagents for the synthesis of hetero-cyclic systems 2. This type of heterocyclic system has been prepared by a variety of methods.1-5 Often the cyclization step involves an intermediate, such as 1, but this is usually generated from the olefin or the hydroxy derivative2-4, and in some instances X may be the hydroxonium ion. Isolated cases are known5-7 whereKeywords
