Optical Instruments for the Vacuum Ultra-violet

Abstract
The limitations on the design of optical instruments for the regions 2000 Å -1200 Å (near vacuum ultra-violet) and 1200 Å -200 Å (far vacuum ultra-violet) due to (a) the necessity of enclosing the optical path in vacuum and (b) the properties of optical materials in these regions are stated. L'auteur décrit les limitations rencontrées dans la réalisation des instruments optiques pour les régions 2000 Å -1200 Å (ultraviolet à vide proche) et 1200 Å -200 Å (ultraviolet à vide lointain) résultant de la nécessité d'enfermer le chemin optique dans le vide, et des propriétés des matériaux optiques dans ces régions du spectre. Beim Entwurf optischer Instrumente für das Gebiet von 2000 Å -1200 Å (Vakuum-Ultraviolett) und das Gebiet von 1200 Å -200 Å (extrem kurzwelliges Vakuum-Ultraviolett) sind Beschränkungen gegeben a) dadurch, dass der optische Weg ganz im Vakuum liegen muss, und b) durch die Eigenschaften der optischen Medien in diesen Spektralbereichen. Diese Beschränkungen werden kurz behandelt.Keywords
