Abstract
Photoabsorption cross sections were obtained for the gases N2, NO, O2, and N2O between 50 and 340 AA and for CO between 180 and 340 AA. Partial sum rule contributions to the total oscillator strength are calculated from the data and are compared with theoretical calculations. Secondly, using a double-ionisation chamber, multiple-ionisation yields are obtained for N2 and some rare gases at selected wavelengths between 180 and 300 AA. The results are related to those of other authors who have measured oscillator strengths for partial double-ionisation channels.
