Abstract
The effect of mersalyl and HgCl2 on the adenosinetriphosphatase (ATP-ase) activity of homogenized rat kidneys was tested by the addition of these compounds to the homogenate and by injecting rats with these compounds; sacrificing the animals at varying intervals after injn., and determining the kidney ATP-ase activity. Mersalyl and HgCl2 inhibited ATP-ase activity of the homogenized rat kidneys. Following the intramusc. injn. of doses of 5, 10, and 50 mg./kg. of mersalyl into rats, renal ATP-ase activity was unchanged in 4 hrs.; it was decreased after 24 hrs. Keywords
