Analysis of the stability of the highest-order supermode in semiconductor laser arrays

Abstract
Uniform evanescently coupled laser arrays tend to oscillate in the highest-order supermode. We show by modelling that this supermode is much more stable with increasing output power than the zero-order supermode.
