Abstract
The absorption and emission spectra and fluorescent lifetimes of solutions of europium (III) chloride in D2O–H2O mixtures were measured. The lifetime of the most deuterated solution, 99.6%, was found to be 3.9 msec while that of the undeuterated solution was 0.12 msec. The decay curves of intermediate solutions exhibited two portions having lifetimes essentially equal to the end members. These results are discussed and compared with those of previous investigators. Keywords
