Abstract
Eighteen samples of commercial bird feeds were examined for the presence of Cryptococcus neoformans to determine the source of that fungus in pigeon droppings. Fourteen of the 18 samples contained at least 1 species of Cryptococcus, but none was found to be contaminated with C. neoformans. Predominant cryptococci in descending order of incidence were: C. albidus, C. laurentii, C. luteolus, and C. albidus var diffluens. Keywords
