Abstract
A trial designed to examine the significance and extent of losses in live weight of inwintered cattle turned out to grass in spring is described. The results obtained for two pairs of identical twin cattle suggest that most of the loss in live weight after a 14‐day grazing period could be related to differences in the contents of the alimentary tract. Keywords
