Abstract
In order to analyze statistically the mechanics of sandy beach processes subjected to the wave action, the design of experiments is applied to laboratory experiments. Analysis is made on the question how the experimental conditions controlled statistically dominate on the beach processes. Two kinds of the river sand, with the specific gravity of 2.65 and the mesalite sand with s.g.≑2.3 were used as a beach material to investigate the effect of the difference of specific gravity of beach material on the interrelation among the beach processes and factors. The application of congruence equation is attempted to treat of the higher-order interactions as a step of the analysis of experimental data. As a result, graphical representations are made of factor effects and of contribution rate in which each factor affects the beach processes. Furthermore, the effect of that how much the difference of specific gravity of beach materials on the beach precesses and the interrelation among factors is clearly indicated. Keywords
