Abstract
An axially elastic spherocylinder molecular model has been proposed for a vibrationally relaxing diatomic gas molecule. Binary collision between two such particles is studied first. A Boltzmann equation is given for a gas consisting of elastic spherocylinder particles, and an equilibrium solution is obtained for the same through an H theorem. Three conservation equations are written down as particular cases of the Maxwell transfer equation. Keywords
