Abstract
The crystal structure of nickel xanthate, Ni(S-CS-O-CH 2 -CH 3 ) 2 , is presented. The structure has been solved with one zero-level Buerger precession photograph and one integrated Weissenberg equator photograph. Space group Pbca , a = 7.57 Å, b = 7.23 Å, c = 20.92 Å. The structure has been refined to a residual R 1 = 0.13. The plane distribution of the four covalent bonds of the nickel atoms is confirmed, furnishing the value 2.23 Å for the Ni–S distance. The whole Ni xanthate molecule is planar. The paper also contains some considerations on the effects of interactions between different molecules. Keywords
