Abstract
Spinal-cord-injury (SCI) patients (36) were examined with excretory and urography and/or voiding cystourethrography and with ultrasound. Ultrasound is capable of circumventing problems in radiographic procedures that are common with SCI patients (e.g., overlying fecal material or bowel gas). Ultrasound yielded significantly more diagnostic information than the radiographic procedures in 36% of the renal studies and 27% of the bladder studies. Real-time imaging of ureters was investigated and discussed. Ultrasound should play a major role in the urologic evaluation of SCI patients. This publication has 1 reference indexed in Scilit:
