Melao Virus, a New Agent Isolated from Trinidadian Mosquitoes

Abstract
Summary A new arthropod-borne agent, Melao virus, was isolated from Aedes scapularis collected in a Trinidadian forest in 1955. The virus was shown to be related immunologically to California encephalitis virus. Some of the physical and biological properties of the virus are reported. Limited studies have not shown evidence of immunity to Melao in human beings or monkeys from Trinidad.
