Emack electromagnetic launcher commissioning

Abstract
The EMACK laboratory demonstration electromagnetic launcher was designed and fabricated by the Westinghouse RD Center and installed at the RD Center for commissioning in late 1981. Subsequently, in February, 1982, a series of five test shots was made to commission the system and determine its operating characteristics. This paper summarizes the essential engineering details of the system components and the results of the commissioning tests.
