Abstract
The effect of uniform suction on the rotationally symmetric flow produced by an infinite rotating disc with the fluid at infinity rotating is investigated both theoretically and numerically. When the fluid at infinity is rotating in the same sense as the disc, exact confirmation of the results given by Rogers and Lance (1) is obtained. However, when the fluid at infinity is rotating in an opposite sense to the disc, physically acceptable solutions do exist contrary to the conclusion of Rogers and Lance.
