Abstract
Using an ingenious method for repeatedly tapping the portal vein, Blankenhorn studied the bile pigment content of the portal blood. He concludes that bilirubin as such is not absorbed from the intestine by way of the portal vein. Bilirubin may be absorbed from the intestine by the lymphatics but only in minute amounts. Urobilin is absorbed from the intestine by way of the portal vein and the lymphatics. This publication has 4 references indexed in Scilit:
