Abstract
Reporting schemes for thyroid fine‐needle aspirations in the literature were reviewed and classified according to the number of categories in the scheme and the significance of each category. The sensitivity, specificity, and positive predictive and negative values were determined for each scheme, if possible. A reporting scheme based on the probability of finding carcinoma on histology is proposed. Diagn. Cytopathol. 2006;34:67–76.Keywords
