Abstract
The synthesis of six alpha, alpha[image]-diaminodicarboxylic acids, homologues of alpha, alpha[image]-diaminopimelic acid is described. These were tested as growth inhibitors against Corynebacterium diphtheriae. Staphylococcus aureus. Escherichia coli. and Streptococcus pyogenes. alpha, alpha[image] -Diaminosuberic acid alone gave significant growth inhibition and this agent failed to give any protection to mice against S. pyogenes.
