Abstract
Two soybean [Glycine max (L.) Meir.] cultivars, ‘Semmes’ and ‘Hood,’ differing in sensitivity to the herbicide metribuzin [4‐amino‐6‐tert‐butyl‐3‐(methylthio)‐as‐triazine‐5(4H)one] were studied with their F1, F2, and backcross F2 generations to determine the inheritance of metribuzin sensitivity. The herbicide was added to the nutrient solution in which the plants were growing to insure uniform herbicidal treatment. The technique was effective for classifying segregating populations. The data gave good evidence that a single recessive gene controlled the metribuzin sensitivity expressed by the cultivar Semmes. The gene symbol hm is suggested for this reaction. This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
