Abstract
These lizards live up to 16,000 feet altitude where the temp. goes below freezing every month. They emerge from burrows when air temp. is as low as -5[degree] C and by absorbing heat from the sun can maintain between body and air a temp. difference of 31[degree]C. They eat leaves, blossoms, and insects. Young are born alive from Sept. to Dec. and do not mate in 1st breeding season (April) when they are 50 mm. long (snout-vent), but probably mate in their 2d season at about 70 mm. length. Litters average 5.8.This publication has 1 reference indexed in Scilit:
