Mental Health in Nursing Homes Training Project 1972-1973

Abstract
The authors report on an interdisciplinary, continuing education, training program and its effect on residents and trainees and its impact within the long-term care setting. This NIMH project was sponsored jointly by the Adelphi University Schools of Nursing and Social Work and the evaluation study was conducted by the Bureau of Educational Evaluation of Hofstra University. The paper examines the problem, theoretical base, planning, objectives, design, methods, and evaluation of the project. It is the author's belief that this demonstration training project can be replicated and that the mental health status of residents can be positively affected.
