An Isolate of Fusarium Roseum from Human Burns

Abstract
An isolate of Fusarium roseum Link emend. Synder and Hansen was found growing on the wounds of a severely burned child. Clinically, this was of interest because the fungus appeared to be instrumental in early separation of the burn eschar. Mycologically, the occurrence was of interest because members of the genus Fusarium have been known to occur on human tissue only rarely. The other known occurrences of species of the genus Fusarium on human tissue are discussed briefly. Both clinical and mycological studies of this fungus and its products are in progress.
